Most trainings teach a modality.

The Healing Fields Model prepares you for a role.

The Healing Fields Model™ is a practical framework designed for professionals who want to facilitate transformative healing experiences—not simply learn another clinical theory or intervention. It integrates nervous system science, relational healing, and ecological support so participants can safely create the conditions for corrective emotional experiences in retreats, workshops, outdoor programs, community initiatives, and other immersive environments.

Unlike single-modality programs, this training bridges traditional clinical education with the growing demand for trauma-informed facilitators who can function effectively as co-facilitators within coordinated teams. You leave with a shared language, clear role architecture, and the practical skills to contribute without overstepping—while strengthening the overall safety and impact of the programs you support.

How the Model Works

The Healing Fields Model is organized around two interconnected processes:

1. The Healing Process (5-Phase Framework)

  1. Preparation & Orientation – Align your nervous system, the facilitation team, and the environment so the container is trustworthy before deeper work begins.
  2. Internal Field Activation – Help participants move from narrative into embodied awareness while maintaining enough regulation to stay present.
  3. Relational Field Engagement – Use co-regulation, attunement, pacing, and repair to create a relational experience that differs from what the participant has learned to expect.
  4. Ecological Field Integration – Engage nature, movement, sensory experience, and the surrounding environment as active sources of regulation, belonging, and meaning.
  5. Integration & Meaning-Making – Support participants in recognizing what shifted, embodying the change, and carrying it into daily life.

2. Role-Preparation Process

Participants learn how to enter an immersive program, contribute without taking over, collaborate within a coordinated team, respond appropriately to distress, and support continuity of care—while remaining clearly within their scope and level of responsibility.

Non-Clinical Healing Service Providers

Create Healing Experiences Through Interconnected Fields
  1. Internal Safety — Help participants notice and remain connected to their bodies without forcing emotional depth or overwhelming the nervous system.
  2. Relational Attunement — Use warmth, responsiveness, pacing, and nonjudgmental presence to create a relationship in which vulnerability feels safer.
  3. Ecological Support — Engage nature, movement, sensory experience, and the surrounding environment as active sources of regulation and belonging.
  4. Meaningful Integration — Help participants slow down, recognize what happened, and carry the meaning of the experience into their lives after the program ends.

Outdoor Healing and Recovery Operators

Turn Your Transformational Program Into a Replicable Team Model
  1. Name What You Already Do Well — Translate the intuitive and relational strengths of your program into a shared framework that new team members can understand.
  2. Train Role-Ready Co-Facilitators — Prepare additional facilitators to recognize nervous system states, read group dynamics, support regulation, and respond without disrupting the program.
  3. Place Each Person in a Clear Lane — Protect the operator’s expertise while establishing defined clinical, facilitation, safety, and participant-support responsibilities.
  4. Create Shared Decision Points — Use clear protocols for when a co-facilitator should observe, offer support, consult the lead, intervene, or escalate.
  5. Grow Without Losing the Experience — Increase participant capacity and organizational reach while preserving the relational quality and program culture that made the original work effective.

Clinical Training Pipeline

A Defined Entry Path Into Immersive Healing Work...Build the Skills to Enter the Facilitation Pathway Before Graduation
  1. Establish Nervous System Literacy — Recognize when participants are available for connection and when their current state requires slowing, grounding, or additional support.
  2. Develop Field Awareness — Learn to track what is happening inside the participant, within the group, between facilitators, and throughout the environment.
  3. Practice Role-Based Judgment — Understand when to observe, when to offer relational contact, when to consult, and when a situation exceeds your responsibility.
  4. Learn Team-Based Safety — Become familiar with co-facilitation communication, crisis decision-making, scope boundaries, and escalation structures.
  5. Grow Through Increasing Responsibility — Begin with contribution and observation, then build toward more advanced facilitation responsibilities through supervision, experience, and appropriate clinical development.

Licensed Clinicians

A Five-Phase Framework for Facilitating Transformative Experiences
  1. Preparation and Orientation — Prepare your own nervous system, align with co-facilitators, attune to the environment, and establish a trustworthy container before deeper work begins.
  2. Internal Field Activation — Help participants move from narrative into embodied awareness while maintaining enough internal stability to remain present.
  3. Relational Field Engagement — Use co-regulation, attunement, pacing, and repair to create a relational experience that differs from what the participant has learned to expect.
  4. Ecological Field Integration — Engage nature and the sensory environment as co-regulators, mirrors, and sources of spaciousness, meaning, and belonging.
  5. Integration and Meaning-Making — Help participants name what shifted, experience it in the body, connect it to their lives, and identify how the change can be supported after the experience.

Christin Frederick is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in California and the founder of Adventure Therapy Associates (dba The Healing Fields Foundation). She earned her Master of Arts in Counseling Psychology with an emphasis in Depth Psychology from Pacifica Graduate Institute.

Her professional path has been shaped by a wide range of real-world experience—education, sales, business development, and service in the United States Marine Corps—alongside the personal chapters of marriage, divorce, widowhood, co-parenting, and step-parenting. These experiences deepened her capacity to meet people in complexity with both clinical rigor and genuine human understanding.

Christin specializes in helping clients clarify complex challenges, heal past trauma, and move beyond patterns that no longer serve them. She works with individuals, couples, families, veterans, first responders, and high-achieving professionals, guiding them toward greater regulation, relational connection, and the freedom to live more fully in the present.

Clinical Foundations

Christin’s work is grounded in the contributions of leading thinkers in trauma, attachment, interpersonal neurobiology, and nervous system regulation, including Stephen Porges, Deb Dana, Daniel Siegel, Pat Ogden, Bessel van der Kolk, Judith Herman, Bruce Perry, Carl Rogers, and Irvin Yalom. She brings these influences into a coherent, role-based approach that prioritizes safety, presence, and the creation of corrective emotional experiences.

Through the Healing Fields Foundation she supervises and trains clinicians, partners with community organizations, and develops programs that bridge traditional psychotherapy with experiential, outdoor, and nature-based healing settings.
